| By Barbara Rehner PRESS ADVERTISING DEPARTMENT "The eye exam was very thorough," Adsit says. "The staff really cares about the health of your eyes. They took their time and were very caring." The clinic, 550 Cherry St. SE, provides discounted vision care to low income clients. Funding comes from several sources, including a grant from the National Eye institute, private donations and the Grand Rapids Ophthalmology Drive for Vision; a Grand Rapids Lions Club project. |
The Eye Clinic at Cherry Street Health Services was born of a dream, and made a reality through the efforts of dedicated volunteers who saw the need. About 10 years ago, Dr. Mark Sheldon, a doctor at Grand Rapids Ophthalmology, wanted to start a practice for the uninsured. He found a home for his clinic at Cherry Street. |
